I am now the proud recipient of The Versatile Blogger Award.
The award was given to me by the lovely Kim at Blog This (an Australian Bloggers network in which I recently featured). Kim also has her own rather delightful blog at Feather and Nest. So thank you, Kim, your support is much appreciated!
In receiving The Versatile Blogger Award, I am told I must share seven interesting or unusual things about myself and recommend seven thoroughly readable and recently discovered blogs that are either creative, funny, clever, inspiring or all of the above (I’m only sharing my Top 3 blogs as I’m so bloody new to this blogging malarkey that I haven’t yet read nearly enough material out there!).

1. I’m British, part Canadian, and recently Australian (there may also be a bit of Welsh and Irish in there somewhere). In other words, I’m a walking, talking advertisement for the Commonwealth.
4. I once advised a Deputy Prime Minister of Canada on affairs of state (and thankfully she ignored me and Canada still includes Quebec).
5. I’m older than I look (feel free to guess).
6. I would like to have a book published by the time I reach 40 (and that’s a clue to #5).
7. I wore braces on my teeth as an adult and only had them removed last month (and now I can’t stop smiling).
Three highly recommended blogs
You so deserve it, Russell:) I’m intrigued about your filming adventures. How exciting. Can’t wait o hear more about this.
As for your age, I’m guessing you’re my age…38? If so, maybe we could race each other to the finish line of a written book. I’d love to write one too but hadn’t set a date …maybe this could be my challenge?? LOL
Love finding out the juicy details of people’s lives….
Thanks Russell for the honour of receiving the Versatile Blogger award! Not sure if I’m quite as versatile as you though! Your blog is fantastic and you very much deserve it. And I love reading it, about your adventures in life…It sounds like you love life and have fun living it. My motto exactly!
@Kim – Thanks, Kim. I’ll post more of the big claim to fame soon – once confirmed! You almost guessed correctly but not quite. Try lower, young lady! Okay, the race is on… this will be your challenge. You have two years so you’d better get going!
@Lisa – Hey Lisa, thanks for your lovely comments. Yes, my motto has come on in leaps and bounds – life is definitely a lot of fun and very interesting these days! Sarah says ‘hi’ and we ‘might’ see you soon based on the outcome of point #2 in my post above π
That’s awesome about the possible TV show! We’re all on pins and needles to find out more! π And congrats on getting the braces off. It’s nice to know that you have one more thing to smile about.
Hey Sara, it is awesome indeed. We get confirmation later this week and I shall share more news then! And as for those braces… only for 12 months but it was a year of adult hell. Very pleased to have my shiny gnashers back π
that TV show sounds really cool! I wish i can move to Australia (permanently)!
@Michelle – Hi! So where are you and are you able to move Down Under? It’s pretty nice over here π
Russell, i have been through your blog.. seems we are shipping to same slope… I am traveler, freelance writer.. blogger.. π
@Colours of boulevard – Yes, it does indeed… hope you’ve had some success with the freelancing which is not the easiest or most lucrative thing to get into (as I’ve found). Interested to know more about your situation…
Congrats for the award russel, you deserved it. π
I got interested in 7 things list about you especially at no.4. Did you really advised canada’s prime minister? wow, i mean wow… hahaha, so you mean you also in politics? well, I enjoyed your blog and I will read again for updates from you. π
@little_starladz – Thanks for the congrats! I did provide advice to the Canadian Deputy Prime Minister back in 2005-6 when I worked for the Canadian Govt (she was also the Minister for the Department I worked in) and I even had the joy of accompanying her at an international police conference in Calgary. Nice lady.
My cousin recommended this blog and she was totally right keep up the fantastic work!
Australian Immigration
@Alex – Thanks so much for your kind comments and you are definitely welcome back here whenever you want! π
These are fun facts–I find these kinds of posts interesting because how else would you find out this stuff about fave bloggers? I LOVE that you faced a huge fear by just going out and doing something about it. Really inspiring. Sounds like you’re a very busy person!
Lol. Glad you like them – it’s true that it’s a cool way to get to know each other better π
That trek in Nepal nearly finished me off. I was SO scared of heights and every day we got higher. Made me feel pretty good about myself afterwards but I still hate heights!
